Listening Session Guidance
The Presidential Search Committee and LMU's WittKieffer team look forward to hearing your thoughts and input as we search for LMU’s next president. Our listening sessions will be packed with meaningful content, so to make the most of our time, we share the guidance below in advance.
Questions and Topics We Will Cover
We will navigate the conversation together, but broadly, we are seeking your input on several key areas:
- What are the most exciting opportunities facing LMU? What are the most significant challenges?
- What are the most distinctive characteristics of LMU that the next president should know?
- What should be the top priorities for the next president during their first few years?
- What personal qualities and professional qualifications are most important for the next president to address these priorities and effectively thrive within the LMU community?
- Why would a candidate want to lead LMU, and why now?
Guiding Principles for Our Conversation
Our primary purpose in these conversations is to listen and gather your input. Below are guidelines to help make our conversation productive:
- The information we gather will be used, in aggregate, to draft the leadership profile for the search, which will be shared with candidates and used as a guide for evaluating them. This document will be publicly available on the LMU website and in our recruitment materials.
- We do not attribute individual feedback to specific people. Anything you and others share with us in these meetings remains confidential.
- We are not seeking consensus in these discussions, but rather your individual perspectives. Feel free to build on or even contradict the comments of others. The more original insights we gather, the more valuable our time together.
We look forward to a productive conversation and learning more about LMU and its aspirations for its next president through your perspectives.
