Message from the President

Dear LMU Community:

I am saddened to share that Kathryn Mazzolini, a junior political science major, died unexpectedly from a coronary aneurysm (presumed) on Sept. 14, 2022. She was 22 years old.

Kathryn was from Calabasas, California, and transferred to LMU this semester after attending Kenyon College in Ohio. She was passionate about classical civilization and justice studies, and she worked as an event operations assistant.

Student Psychological Services, Community of Care, Campus Ministry and the Dean of Students are available to speak with students who seek support amidst this tragedy. Faculty and staff may seek support from the Employee Assistance Program and the Center for Ignatian Spirituality.

Information about memorial services will be shared as soon as they are available. We will remember Kathryn with a plaque bearing her name at our student memorial, Ad Astra per Aspera.
