NLRB Sample Ballot
May 17, 2024
Dear Faculty Colleagues,
I write again to share a preview of the election ballot that will soon be mailed to your home by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). You can view the sample ballot here.
As a reminder, ballots will be mailed to eligible faculty members by the NLRB on May 20 at 5 p.m. Ballots must be received at the Region 31 office by no later than the close of business on June 10, 2024. The vote count will be conducted on June 11 at 10:00 a.m. at the Region 31 office, located in West Los Angeles at 11500 W. Olympic Blvd., Suite 600, Los Angeles, CA 90064-1753.
You have the unfettered right to vote “yes” or “no” on the question of whether you wish to be represented by SEIU, Local 721. LMU encourages all eligible members of the Non-Tenured Track faculty to vote. If the SEIU receives votes from 50 percent plus one additional NTT faculty member in the NLRB-conducted election, then the SEIU will be certified as the collective bargaining representative for all the NTT faculty in the unit. For example, if the bargaining unit includes 400 employees, but only 10 cast a ballot in the election, the union would win the election with only six votes. Put another way, only those who show up determine the outcome. This means that no minimum quorum of those voting is required before votes cast in a secret ballot election are counted.
Again, we encourage you to visit the Conversations website for the most up-to-date information, and we will continue to email you as information becomes available to us.
Sincerely,
Tom
