Bargaining Session Update: April 25, 2025

04.25.25

LMU and the SEIU 721 Non-Tenure Track (NTT) bargaining unit met today for the seventh session in the ongoing process toward reaching a first collective bargaining agreement.

LMU remains committed to a fair and thoughtful bargaining process that respects our faculty and prioritizes our students. The university continues to focus on reaching a responsible agreement that supports student success and secures LMU’s future. Throughout negotiations, LMU has maintained a consistent bargaining schedule, carefully considered union proposals, and offered counteroffers that balance faculty support with institutional responsibilities. The university will continue to bargain with the same spirit of thoughtfulness, respect, and collaboration.

Every university proposal and counterproposal is rooted in our commitment to providing an outstanding educational experience for our students. We recognize that student success and faculty excellence are deeply interdependent, and we seek a balance that advances both. We believe we share a common goal: ensuring that students learn from the most highly qualified and capable instructors.

LMU appreciates the dedication of every NTT faculty member to our students, our community, and the ongoing efforts to reach a collective bargaining agreement.

Proposals

At today’s session, the union presented four counterproposals, and the university presented three counterproposals. LMU remains committed to an ambitious bargaining schedule and to reaching a first collective bargaining agreement.

The next bargaining session will be May 9, 2025 at 11 a.m. Updates will continue to be posted on LMU’s Non-Tenure Track Faculty Bargaining website as negotiations progress, reaffirming our shared commitment to academic excellence and the university’s mission.
