LMU offers Iggy the Lion mascot appearances upon request, giving the campus community a chance to engage with our beloved mascot. The university strives to accommodate as many requests as possible, however, each request will be evaluated based on specific criteria to ensure alignment with LMU’s mission, values, safety guidelines, and Team Iggy's availability.
If you’d like Iggy to make an appearance at your on-campus LMU event or engagement, please review the criteria below and complete the request form. For athletics-related events, contact Katie Hinkle, Associate Athletic Director for Marketing and Fan Engagement at katie.hinkle@lmu.edu.
All appearance requests are subject to review and approval in accordance with LMU’s Mascot Policy.
Criteria for Appearance Requests
When considering appearance requests for LMU’s Iggy the Lion mascot, the following five criteria will be considered for requests submitted 2 months or more in advance:
- Alignment with LMU’s Mission and Values: Requests for appearances should align with the mission and values of LMU. The mascot represents the university and its community, promoting positivity, inclusivity, and enthusiasm. Events that reflect the university's brand and contribute positively to the campus culture will be strongly considered. Athletic events will be prioritized first.
- Promoting Educational and Community Impact: Events with an educational purpose or meaningful contribution to the community will be strongly considered. LMU values initiatives that support learning, engagement, and service to others.
- Engagement Potential and Audience Reach: The potential for meaningful audience engagement is important. Events that connect with a wide and diverse group of attendees and offer opportunities for interactive experiences will be prioritized.
- Media Exposure and LMU Brand Impact: Requests that offer positive media exposure or showcase LMU in a way that enhances its reputation will be viewed favorably.
- Safety and Logistic Factors: The safety of Team Iggy and event attendees is a top priority. Events will be evaluated for appropriate safety measures, adequate planning, and logistical feasibility.
Requesting an Appearance
Thank you for your interest in having Iggy appear at your on-campus LMU event. Please note the following guidelines and standards before submitting your request:
- Submit the Request Form: The request form is the only way to book Iggy for on-campus (non-athletics) events. Requests made through email, Teams messages, voicemails, or in person will not be considered. For athletics-related requests, email katie.hinkle@lmu.edu.
- Advance Notice Required: Requests must be submitted at least two months before your event to allow for scheduling and coordination.
- Changing Area Requirement:You must provide a private, secure (lockable) changing area for Iggy throughout the appearance.
- Approval Process: All requests will be reviewed, confirmed, and scheduled via email by the LMU Marketing and Brand Management team.
- Submission of the request form does not guarantee Iggy’s appearance.
