Curious Minds Unite at AJCU Honors Conference
The annual AJCU Honors Conference was held on Loyola Marymount University’s campus this year, bringing 62 honors students, faculty, and administrators from 15 AJCU institutions across the U.S. to engage the theme for the conference, “Curious Minds, Curious Communities: Who, What, and Why of Jesuit Honors Programs.” The event featured a variety of programming centered on curiosity and the questions: “Who is honors for?” “What is honors?” and “Why is honors important?” at Jesuit colleges and universities.
First Year Seminar sparks interest in social entrepreneurship
L.A. is one of the most diverse cities in the world, and entrepreneurship major Elias Herrera ’26 wants to make sure it stays that way. Originally from San Diego, Herrera first gained an interest in L.A.’s neighborhoods in his First Year Seminar, “Latino L.A.” with Professor Sylvia Zamora. He wanted to learn more about the development issues in East L.A., and Zamora helped him make a connection at Inclusive Action for the City, a community development organization with a mission to serve L.A.’s underinvested communities.
